All Time Favorite Images

When everything aligns, it's perfection - light, moment, composition, camera. I took this with a Contact G2 with trix film. The bride was radiant as she was escorted down the aisle by her parents.

All Time Favorite Images

Winter light can be so beautiful. I took this image in NYC with my Rollei with Fuji 800 film. It has all my favorite elements - backlight, flower girls, a candid moment and of course, a beautiful bride!

All Time Favorite Images

This one was taken in Spain in the mountains outside Barcelona after the ceremony, which took place in a hand carved cave, carved by Monks. (I guess they had nothing else to do!) I took this with a camera called a Widelux which has a rotating, 180 degree lens, with 3200 tmax film. This camera gets everything in one shot!

All Time Favorite Images

This group shot was taken on the beach on the island of St Martin. I used my Holga with the plastic lens loaded with trix film to capture this less conventional group shot. For these shots, we all went for a short walk on the beach after the ceremony. The magic is in the moment, the camera and the film.

All Time Favorite Images

Another photo in the series of All Time Favorite Images! I took this image off the coast of Rhode Island of the bride and groom during their portrait session. I shot it with trix film with a camera called a Holga, which has a plastic lens. This camera makes any image in bright light look amazing! I love this photo because of the dramatic backdrop and beautiful light!

All Time Favorite Images

Another photo in the series of All Time Favorite Images! This one is such a sweet moment of the bride and groom before leaving for portraits and the ceremony. It was taken on the Upper West Side of Manhattan in the bride's parents home. It was shot with Tri-x 35mm film with a quiet little camera called a Contax G2.

All Time Favorite Images

Another of my favorite images was one I took at a wedding on the groom's family's farm in New Preston, CT. The opening of the barn door was perfect for a square format. I shot this image with a Rolleiflex, which has a painterly, romantic look to it. I love backlight, it turns a beautiful moment into an dreamy interpretation.

All Time Favorite Images

Another of my All Time Favorite Images is a photograph from my archives taken in downtown NYC while the bride was entering Gramercy Park. It was shot with a Holga camera with Tri-x 120 film. I love the gate and the ethereal rendering of the Holga's plastic lens.

All Time Favorite Images

This is the first in a series I'd like to start posting of my All Time Favorite Images.

This one is from a winter wedding lit only by a small pocket light and headlights shining through the rear window of the vintage car we were traveling in just after the ceremony. The graininess is the result of high speed 3200 TMax film. I love the beauty of this intimate moment and the rendering of the low light. It's so amazing to be let into people's lives on their wedding day - when you think about it, it's really extraordinary.

Recent Wedding

Wendy and James's Wedding
Virginia City, NV
July 5, 2009

It was my great pleasure to photograph my friends Wendy and James's wedding in Nevada. It was the best of everything - good friends, a beautiful and unusual location, great food and a couple whose love for nature and the heat of the desert was the perfect romantic setting for their day. Their wedding, which took place at the Seven Mile Canyon Ranch in Virginia City, Nevada, just over the mountain north of Reno, reflected their personalities perfectly. We all hiked out to the ceremony site and guests sat on wooden benches as witness to this Williamsburg, Brooklyn couple tying the knot. It was a beautiful day with magnificent light, (a photographers dream!). I loved their choice of color, the bright greens and white against the natural desert background. Dinner was enjoyed at a long picnic table where everyone could chat and enjoy the spectacular views!

Welcome to Nevada!

Blessing of the rings by guests

Guests sat together at one long picnic table, each place setting had a menu card, horse shoe and a personalized literary quote picked by the bride. Mine read, "Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same" by Emily Bronte, and Frank's read, "Think not because you are wed that all your courtship's are at an end" by Antonio Hurtado de Mendoza. So romantic!
